UPA Meter Upgrade Milestone

UPA and Landis+Gyr Deliver Successful AMI Deployment for LG&E and KU, Completing More Than 1.2 Million Meter Upgrades Ahead of Schedule

Utility Partners of America (UPA), in partnership with Landis+Gyr (L+G), has successfully completed the deployment of Gridstream® network infrastructure, advanced electric meters, and gas meter modules for Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company (LG&E and KU). Since launching this project in the fall of 2022, the project team delivered 988,539 electric meters and 309,534 gas retrofits, finished ahead of schedule, and exceeded customer goals.

The advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network provides LG&E and KU with a modernized platform that expands the exceptional service it provides to its customers.  With access to interval energy usage data and a customized online dashboard, customers can explore tools and insights to better understand their energy usage, set alerts, find energy-saving tips, and make informed decisions to reduce monthly bills.

Beyond customer experience benefits, the AMI deployment generated hundreds of jobs and contributed significantly to other community investments. This reinforces the value of large-scale infrastructure projects delivered with precision, partnership, and local impact.

UPA is proud to continue its work throughout the US to build, inspect, maintain, and upgrade the nation’s utility infrastructure.
